Chapter 95: Dad, Welcome Home
Everyone was startled by this.
What, was this kid really going to strike in the middle of the street? Did he no longer care for his life?
"Xiaole!" Lin Tenghui was alarmed as well, fearing for Lin Le, thinking he was truly about to kill in a fit of rage.
"Fulfill you? Come on then, let me see how you..." the tattooed man said with brazen arrogance.
But before he could finish, a thin figure suddenly burst out from the crowd at the side.
It was a filthy stray dog.
The dog was strangely fierce. It had been perfectly quiet before, but the instant the tattooed man began to speak, a savage glint flashed in its eyes.
Then the stray dog sprang up from the crowd and sank its teeth brutally into the tattooed man's throat.
"Ah..." Before the tattooed man could even react, his windpipe was torn clean through.
Bright red blood instantly burst from his neck and splattered across the ground.
"Ah!" Everyone gasped in shock, staring in disbelief at the scene before them.
It all happened far too fast; for a moment, no one could even understand what had just occurred.
"B-Brother..." the tattooed man's underlings had been completely stupefied as well. They stared in terror at their blood-spraying boss, yet none of them dared step forward.
"Wu... wu..." With his throat ripped open, the tattooed man could only make muffled sounds and could no longer utter a single word.
No one heard that within the tattooed man's consciousness, a cold voice was speaking to him: "Now that I kill you in the middle of the street, as easily as crushing a fly, what can you do about it?"
Indeed, that voice was Lin Le's, sent into the man's mind through spiritual transmission.
And that stray dog from before had also been controlled by Lin Le's will when it attacked.
With Lin Le's present cultivation, controlling a human mind might still be somewhat difficult, but controlling ordinary animals was by no means hard.
After hearing Lin Le's voice in his mind, the tattooed man's entire being was driven to the brink of despair. He had never imagined that the other party would truly dare to kill in the street, and still walk away untouched.
Only now did he realize how foolish he had been, dying like a common cur and for no reason at all.
The tattooed man's eyes were filled with terror as they fixed on Lin Le not far away. Yet Lin Le no longer had even a moment to spare for him, having already turned to examine Chen Qiang's injuries.
With unending unwillingness in his heart, the tattooed man could no longer hold on. Thud, he collapsed to the ground and died on the spot.
Seeing a living man die before their eyes in an instant, everyone erupted in uproar, though more than that, many of them felt joy.
Someone like the tattooed man, cruel in method and venomous in heart, had surely harmed countless innocents already. To die in such a bewildering manner was, in truth, only what he deserved.
The tattooed man's underlings stared dumbly as their boss died so inexplicably before them.
As for the stray dog that had bitten him to death, it had long since vanished without a trace. Even if it were still here, what then? Could they possibly demand that a mad dog pay for their boss's life?
Then all of them turned their eyes toward Lin Le.
"Y-You... you killed our boss?" one of the underlings asked in a trembling, timid voice.
"That's right. I killed him. If I can kill him, I can kill you too. Want to try?" Lin Le said without the slightest attempt to hide it.
Under the circumstances, he could easily have denied it; after all, everyone had only seen the tattooed man bitten to death by a mad dog, and there was no clue pointing to Lin Le at all.
But he did not do so. There was no need to waste such effort on these scum.
"You..." The underlings of the tattooed man trembled and instinctively stepped back.
They had never imagined that this youth before them would truly dare to kill their boss so openly.
"Our Red Ember Society will not let you get away with this!" one of them shouted, though his voice lacked any real conviction.
"It should be me who won't let your Red Ember Society get away with this," Lin Le said calmly.
"Go back and tell your boss of the Red Ember Society that he has three days to get out of Haizhou. Otherwise, this man will be his fate."
Those men glanced at the corpse lying in the pool of blood on the ground and did not dare say another word. They all fled in panic.
"Well killed! Well killed!" Only after the people of Red Ember Society had gone did the crowd erupt into thunderous cheers.
"Xiaole, this... this won't cause trouble, will it?" Lin Tenghui asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, Dad. I'll handle it properly," Lin Le said in a steady tone, and only then did Lin Tenghui finally relax.
"Brother Le, you're amazing!" Chen Qiang said excitedly.
Although Chen Qiang and the others did not know how Lin Le had done it, the moment Lin Le appeared the whole situation changed at once, which was enough to prove his means.
Just then, a commotion rose outside, and several cars stopped there.
A few people in uniform saw the tattooed man's body lying on the ground and couldn't help frowning.
After asking around in the crowd for a while, they retrieved the nearby surveillance footage, then took the tattooed man's body away.
From beginning to end, no connection was made to Lin Le.
This was hardly surprising. The facts were clear, the clues were plain, and the surveillance had captured everything. All the evidence showed that the tattooed man had been killed by a mad dog, leaving nothing left to investigate.
Only after those people left did Lin Tenghui and the others finally breathe easy and let go of their worry.
This bloody incident thus passed by as lightly as a feather.
Although the tattooed man had been dealt with, the Red Ember Society behind him remained a troublesome issue. Given the way the Red Ember Society operated, retaliation against Lin Le and the others was inevitable.
After some thought, Lin Le still decided to have Lin Tenghui and Chen Qiang stay away from the noodle shop for the next three days. They would wait until the Red Ember Society matter was settled before resuming things here.
"All right, then I'll stay at home for these few days and go nowhere," Lin Tenghui said.
"Dad, let's return the rented apartment too. There's no need to live there anymore."
"Huh? Not living there anymore? Xiaole, don't worry. They won't be able to find us there." Lin Tenghui felt that Lin Le's concern was unnecessary.
"Dad, that's not what I mean. I mean I've already found you a much better place," Lin Le said with a smile.
"A better place? Where?" Lin Tenghui asked, somewhat puzzled.
"I'm taking you there right now. You'll know once we arrive," Lin Le said mysteriously.
After that, Lin Le had his father, Lin Tenghui, and Chen Qiang get into his car.
Not long later, they finally arrived at their destination.
"Brother Le, why did we come here? This... isn't this Ever-Bloom Estate?" Chen Qiang said in confusion.
"Xiaole, could it be that you..." Lin Tenghui seemed to have already realized something.
Lin Le said nothing, stopping in front of a villa.
Lin Tenghui looked at the villa before him, his face filled with disbelief.
"Brother Le, isn't this your family's former home?" Chen Qiang cried out in excitement.
Chen Qiang's father had once been a steward of the Lin family, so he knew this place all too well.
"That's right. Now it's the Lin family's again," Lin Le said softly.
"What?" Chen Qiang was overjoyed.
"Xiaole, are you serious?" Lin Tenghui could hardly believe his ears.
Lin Le smiled mysteriously, took out a key from his pocket, and opened the villa door.
The key had been handed to him by the bodyguard stationed at the gate when he came out of seclusion, saying that someone had mailed it over.
Once the villa door was opened, the entire place indeed had been renovated from top to bottom, just as Zhao Mingyi had promised, completely renewed.
Yet the structure of the villa had not changed much; compared with the time it was lost three years ago, it remained largely the same, everywhere filled with familiar memories.
Looking at all that was familiar before him, Lin Tenghui was so moved that his eyes grew moist with tears.
"Dad, welcome home..." Lin Le said softly, his own heart aching as well.
