Chapter 135: The kind of well-behaved that makes one long to steal a kiss
Xu An’an spoke casually, paying no mind to the stunned Ning Xiyue. Seeing the director’s signal, she brushed past directly. Work was more important; she had no intention of wasting time with Ning Xiyue.
When Ning Xiyue saw the famous director discussing the upcoming shots and camera movements with Xu An’an, her eyes nearly popped out in disbelief.
What on earth was going on?
With such excellent opportunities, Jiang Yu should have given them to her immediately, not to someone else next door!
Ning Xiyue was unwilling to accept this, but unable to reach Jiang Yu by phone, she approached the director to greet him.
“Director Wu, why is this ad casting a completely inexperienced newcomer this time?”
Director Wu was known for being strict with everything and everyone.
He glanced at Ning Xiyue and gave a noncommittal hum. “We’re trying her out first. If it works, we shoot; if not, we’ll discuss replacing her.”
His response was a courtesy to the Jiang family.
Everyone in the circle knew about Jiang Yu’s relationship with Ning Xiyue.
“If you want to shoot this ad, have Jiang Shao go see Er Ye,” he said.
“I know your relationship with Jiang Yu, but if you want this ad, first take off that heavy makeup that even your own mother wouldn’t recognize, and compare your bare face with Xu An’an’s. Whoever looks better bare-faced, I’ll choose.”
A cold, sharp voice rang out.
Everyone turned to look.
Tall and imposing Jiang Lie appeared, his handsome face etched with impatience, making everyone present hold their breath.
The director, who had just been indifferent to Ning Xiyue, hurried forward. “Er Ye, you’re here.”
He actually wanted to ask why Er Ye was here, but he valued his life.
Xu An’an hadn’t expected Jiang Lie to show up either.
Could it be for her?
It was just an advertisement—surely it wasn’t more important than those billion-yuan projects?
Jiang Lie ignored the curious gazes around him and, like a nobleman, took the director’s seat, urging him to work faster.
The director immediately ordered everyone into action.
Ning Xiyue, who had been eyeing Xu An’an’s advertisement greedily, was so frightened upon seeing Jiang Lie that she fled back to the neighboring studio.
Both ads started filming at the same time.
Xu An’an changed into a silk camisole pajama set to shoot a scene applying night cream, but before they began, Jiang Lie halted the shoot.
The director was confused. What was wrong so soon?
“Er Ye, is something not right?” he asked.
“Find her a set of long pajamas and pants. The focus is on the cream,” Jiang Lie said lightly.
Everyone examined Xu An’an’s attire closely and saw the problem: her long black hair with thick brows was styled in waves, making her delicate face look even more alluring.
Her slender swan-like neck and exquisite collarbones drew all eyes.
Such a breathtaking beauty would undoubtedly steal the focus from the cream.
The director instructed the stylist to take Xu An’an to change into a different set of pajamas.
Soon, Xu An’an returned in her new sleepwear.
Seeing her now properly covered, Jiang Lie nodded in satisfaction, his elegant and stern features exuding the restrained arrogance of a nobleman.
“Begin.”
The shoot went smoothly.
They could wrap up in less than an hour.
Mainly because Xu An’an was quick to understand and adapt to the camera, every movement looked as if she’d done millions of ads before.
The director was very pleased. He had expected at least two days working with a newcomer.
He thought to himself that if Xu An’an entered the entertainment industry, she would surely become a huge star—a rare talent blessed by fate.
But he dared not say this aloud, knowing as a man that Jiang Lie’s relationship with Xu An’an was certainly not ordinary.
“Looking for work? Come to 77 City!!”
Suddenly, Ning Xiyue’s shout came from the neighboring studio, making Xu An’an laugh. She had been wondering what ad Ning Xiyue was shooting.
No wonder she was so envious of this ad.
Xu An’an changed back into her clothes and stepped out, only to find Jiang Lie was gone. She murmured to herself, coming and going in such haste.
What was it really about?
She planned to invite Xue Shengnan for dinner.
“Miss Xu, this way please,” Assistant Wang appeared suddenly, smiling warmly.
Xu An’an then realized Jiang Lie had gone ahead to the car and was earnestly reviewing documents. Someone unaware might think he was very busy.
If he were truly so busy, he surely wouldn’t have come.
That was what Xu An’an thought.
In fact, Jiang Lie was indeed very busy, but since this was Xu An’an’s first commercial and she was a newcomer working with a famous director, he worried someone might cause trouble for her, so he made time to come.
Seeing Xu An’an get into the car, Jiang Lie closed his files and rubbed the tense area between his brows.
“You performed well.”
Xu An’an paused. “Thank you. It’s my duty.”
She had once thought commercials were difficult, but after trying, she found it surprisingly easy and even a little addictive.
“Massage for me, will you?”
Before Xu An’an could answer, Jiang Lie grabbed her hand and placed it on the temples on either side of his head.
He had been working intensely and had a headache.
Noticing the dark circles under his eyes, Xu An’an didn’t refuse and gently massaged his temples until Jiang Lie leaned back and fell asleep.
The car hadn’t started moving, and the driver didn’t dare to speak.
Seeing Jiang Lie asleep, Xu An’an didn’t want to wake him and told the driver to clock out first.
She quietly accompanied Jiang Lie in the car, occasionally glancing at the bustling street outside filled with cars and pedestrians.
Inside the car, all was silent, as if they were mere observers of life.
It felt as though time had paused around them.
Since no one could see inside the car, Xu An’an relaxed and even secretly took photos of the sleeping Jiang Lie, posting them onto her “Elegant” account with the caption: “This bad man looks so obedient when asleep.”
After thinking a moment, she added: “The kind of obedient that makes you want to give him a kiss.”
Feeling the time was right, Xu An’an gently woke Jiang Lie. Sitting like this was uncomfortable, and they hadn’t had dinner yet.
Jiang Lie opened his eyes, then leaned against Xu An’an like a child reluctant to get up.
Xu An’an was pushed back slightly and softly patted his broad back. “Just rest a bit now, or else you won’t sleep tonight.”
After a while, Jiang Lie reluctantly hummed in agreement.
“Driver, start the car.”
“The driver has clocked out. I’ll drive,” Xu An’an said as she prepared to get out, but Jiang Lie made a call and summoned another driver.
He said to Xu An’an, “These are all trivial matters. You just need to stay by my side.”
The driver thought Xu An’an must feel very touched.
Not everyone was lucky enough to be pampered by a man as powerful and influential as Jiang Lie.
If Xu An’an knew what the driver was thinking, she would surely spit out a mouthful of soda, offended to be called a “golden cage bird.” Though her abilities were limited, she was constantly striving.
Perhaps to outsiders, it looked like she was relying on Jiang Lie.
But one day, they would see the truth.
