Chapter Sixty-Nine: Crush You
In an instant, more than three million were lost—a significant blow, even for the Fortune Entertainment Club. The King of Dice could only authorize up to two million, and now he’d lost so much, it was no wonder he was faint with shock. The staff hurriedly carried the King of Dice away, then arranged for Ling Tian to receive his chips.
Wang Yong, cradling an armful of chips, grinned so widely his eyes nearly disappeared. No wonder everyone called gambling exhilarating; in the blink of an eye, a millionaire could be made—or ruined. “Big brother, you’re incredible!” Wang Yong exclaimed, giving Ling Tian a thumbs-up, his excitement barely contained.
Ling Tian smiled. “Just a little demonstration of skill.”
Wang Yong collected the chips, stacked them neatly onto a tray, and asked, “Should we keep playing? Maybe we can break the bank.”
Ling Tian glanced at the approaching casino staff and curled his lips. “I doubt we’ll get the chance. It’s likely the casino won’t let us play any further, and I suspect we won’t be able to leave with the money we’ve won tonight.” Though Ling Tian was not well-versed in gambling, he understood human nature deeply.
The purpose of a casino was to make money, and Ling Tian had just won over three million in one swoop. The casino would not take this lying down, especially given its gang affiliations; with just a million, Liu Zhiping could easily hire countless desperadoes to do his bidding—and to eliminate Ling Tian.
At that moment, Liu Zhiping was in his office, enjoying the company of his beautiful secretary. He puffed on a Cuban cigar and glanced down at the secretary, who was bent over his lap, her nimble tongue working expertly. “Isn’t mine the biggest?” he asked smugly.
The secretary reluctantly pulled away, raised her head, and replied coyly, “You’re the most capable man I’ve ever met. Every time, you nearly wear me out before you’re satisfied.”
Liu Zhiping, full of himself, said, “Of course. I’m a man among men—naturally, I excel in that department.” With that, he pressed the secretary’s head down again, thrusting twice with vigor, the warm, moist sensation making his eyes roll back in pleasure.
“Damn, this is the life I want—play when I want, do as I please,” Liu Zhiping said with a wild laugh.
Just then, one of his men burst into the office, only to catch sight of the secretary’s tongue in action. Terrified, he quickly retreated.
Interrupted, Liu Zhiping’s mood soured. He roughly yanked the secretary’s hair, pulling her aside. “Get out,” he ordered.
The secretary hurriedly straightened her clothes and rushed out of the office. Only after she left did Liu Zhiping’s subordinate enter again, head bowed, not daring to speak.
Last time, a subordinate had interrupted Liu Zhiping and his sultry secretary’s “philosophical study,” earning a savage beating before being thrown out of the Fortune Entertainment Club.
“You idiot, can’t you knock before entering? Don’t you know I’m enjoying life? You must be tired of living!” Liu Zhiping shouted, furious at being disturbed.
His boss’s outburst made the subordinate tremble, but remembering his urgent purpose, he quickly said, “Boss, I didn’t mean to interrupt you; there’s trouble at the casino. I was so anxious I barged in.”
Trouble at the casino? Liu Zhiping scoffed. “Nonsense, what could possibly happen? I’ve taken care of everything—every month I pay out over a million in bribes. What could go wrong?”
The subordinate hurried to explain, “Boss, it’s not an inspection. Someone won over three million in our casino—even the King of Dice lost.”
At first, Liu Zhiping didn’t grasp the situation, but after a moment, realization dawned. It wasn’t that someone won three million—his casino lost three million. The pain hit him hard. Though the Fortune Entertainment Club brought in piles of cash daily, too many people needed bribing; the payouts amounted to nearly sixty percent of the club’s profits.
“Damn it! They lost me over three million! Are you all idiots? Bring them here immediately—I want to see who’s got the guts to win in my casino!” Liu Zhiping screamed, ready to shoot his subordinate on the spot.
In Liu Zhiping’s mind, anyone who came to his casino had to lose; winning meant they were there to cause trouble.
With his gang’s backing, Liu Zhiping never went easy on those who dared to win at his casino. The money had to be coughed up.
Soon, Ling Tian and Wang Yong were brought to Liu Zhiping’s office.
As soon as they entered, Liu Zhiping saw two young men, barely in their twenties—Ling Tian and Wang Yong. He thought he must be seeing things. Could such youths have beaten the King of Dice?
“Well, well. You two must have nerves of steel to dare win in my casino,” Liu Zhiping said, fully displaying his thug persona. He bit down on his cigar, cocked his head, and crossed his legs.
Ling Tian snorted coldly. “So your casino only allows losing?”
Liu Zhiping immediately stood up, shouting, “That’s right! If you gamble in my casino, you must lose. If you win, you’ll have to spit it all back up. Kid, you look unfamiliar—first time here, right?” Though rough in appearance, Liu Zhiping’s mind was sharp.
He was familiar with all the big names in Yunhai City, and Ling Tian’s face was new. Clearly, he had no connections, so Liu Zhiping felt no need for courtesy.
Ling Tian sneered. “I came here today to win. Do you have a problem with that?”
“Hell, you’re here to win? I think you’re here to wreck the place! Hand over the money, kneel and kowtow three times, and maybe if I’m in a good mood, I’ll let you go. If not, I’ll kill you,” Liu Zhiping threatened arrogantly.
Ling Tian replied solemnly, “You’re right—I am here to wreck the place. And let me remind you, watch your words. Stop referring to yourself as ‘the boss’—say it one more time, and I’ll slap you dead.” His tone was razor-sharp by the end.
Liu Zhiping was thrown off. What was going on? Had the tables turned? These two punks dared to threaten him? It was like an old man asking for poison—a death wish!
Damn, didn’t they realize whose turf this was?
“Well, this is interesting—two punks daring to—” Liu Zhiping began, but before he could finish, Ling Tian lunged forward. He slapped Liu Zhiping left and right in rapid succession, making stars dance before his eyes, his ears ring, blood trickle from his mouth, and two bloodied molars fly out.
