Chapter Twenty-Two: Shock
With Sun Yibin joining the fray, Black Bear grew much bolder. He knew that no matter how formidable Ling Tian was, at best he could only fight Sun Yibin to a draw. Besides, Sun Yibin had dozens of men under his command, all well-trained fighters. If they all charged at once, even three Ling Tians wouldn’t be able to resist.
Despite Black Bear’s threats, Ling Tian’s expression remained calm. However, Wang Yong and the others were visibly shaken. Though Wang Yong was usually all talk and bluster, this was the first time he had faced such a situation—his knees were trembling so much he seemed on the verge of wetting himself. Still, his expression remained determined.
Ling Tian turned to Wang Yong and asked, “Are you scared?”
Wang Yong nodded honestly. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t. But I won’t run. If we really take a beating later, the more people who stand with you, the less you’ll have to bear alone.”
Ling Tian couldn’t help but laugh at that. Wang Yong wasn’t entirely useless, at least he had a sense of loyalty. Did the kid have so little faith in him, though? “Relax, the real show is about to begin,” Ling Tian said with a reassuring smile, patting Wang Yong on the shoulder.
Black Bear took the knife handed to him by one of his lackeys and swaggered, “Heh, Wang Yong’s right. More people mean you can share the pain when it comes time for a beating. But now I feel like using a blade. Which one of you wants to go first? You? Or you?” Black Bear waved the knife, pointing at each o
