Chapter Sixty-Eight: Continuing to Collect Money
The billiards king shouted in protest, “No, I don’t believe you’re really this good! Even if a world champion came, there’s no way they could win so easily. There’s definitely something fishy going on here. I refuse to accept this!”
Ling Tian let out a cold laugh and replied, “I haven’t even said anything yet, and you’re already playing the victim?”
The billiards king, his eyes red with frustration, continued to yell, “There’s definitely something off here! I don’t accept this result—the game doesn’t count!”
Ling Tian picked up a colored ball, crushed it forcefully in his hand, and several black lead weights fell out. Then, one by one, he crushed the remaining balls, pointing at the scattered lead and magnets with an icy voice. “You chose these balls. Care to explain exactly what these are?”
After speaking, Ling Tian swept a cold glance over the casino staff standing beside the billiards king.
“I suspect there’s something wrong with this table as well. Does the casino intend to give me a proper explanation? Otherwise, even if I let it go, I doubt those who’ve been cheated before will.”
At these words, the crowd gathered around erupted. These were all regulars here, many of whom had played billiards before—and, without exception, all had lost. Now that the trick was exposed, how could they not react?
The staff were stunned on the spot. They hurried over to Ling Tian and said, “Sir, the casino has nothing to do with this. It was all this man’s own doing. We’ll deal with him severely and give everyone a satisfactory explanation.” With that, four staff members surrounded the billiards king, beat him soundly without another word, and dragged him out once he was left speechless.
The staff dared not incur the wrath of the crowd; if they failed to handle this properly today, their jobs would be at stake. Ultimately, they calmed the angry patrons with promises of a reasonable explanation within three days.
With the casino’s assurances, the crowd finally dispersed. However, the staff had already set their sights on Ling Tian. If not for this troublemaker, none of this would have happened.
After collecting their winnings, Wang Yong, his face alight with excitement, said to Ling Tian, “Brother, we’ve struck it rich—two hundred thousand in one go!”
Ling Tian glanced at the staff, whose expressions had grown grim. Originally, he had only planned to have a look and not play much, but the casino had angered him, so he decided to teach them a lesson—and win some money in the process. “This is just pocket change. Since we’re here today, let’s really enjoy ourselves. The debt collection can wait.”
Hearing this, Wang Yong could barely contain his excitement. Life with Ling Tian was simply too thrilling—so much better than his old, dull existence. “Brother, are you an expert gambler?” he asked eagerly, itching to try his own luck.
Ling Tian replied with pride, “Not exactly an expert at gambling—but I am an expert at winning.”
Wang Yong was left dumbfounded. Was there really a difference?
The two wandered around the casino for a while, and Ling Tian eventually settled on the big-small dice game. It was simple, but the most exhilarating—each round lasted only a few seconds, and victory or defeat was decided in a flash. Ling Tian chose this game because he could use his spiritual sense to easily discern the outcome.
As soon as Ling Tian approached, the other gamblers stepped aside. His miraculous billiards skills had already awed everyone—who knew if his gambling skills were just as formidable? No one wanted to risk losing their shirts to him.
The casino staff, seeing Ling Tian coming, decided to teach him a lesson by having the house take the bank.
Ling Tian had come looking for trouble anyway, and since the casino was practically handing him money, he saw no reason not to take it.
A woman in her thirties approached the table, holding three dice and a cup, her expression cold as she stared at Ling Tian.
Wang Yong quickly whispered to Ling Tian, “Brother, this woman is probably the casino’s ‘Dice Queen.’ They say she’s a master—she can roll whatever she wants. Be careful.”
Ling Tian smiled. “The casino really has its eyes on me—just started playing and they’ve already sent in a pro.”
The Dice Queen picked up the dice and said to Ling Tian, “I hear you’re good at billiards. I wonder if your gambling skills are as legendary as your billiards game.”
Ling Tian replied, “Why don’t we find out?”
“Arrogant!” The Dice Queen had been at the casino for five years and never lost. She was considered one of the top experts in the entire city. How could someone so formidable take Ling Tian seriously?
“I’m betting it all—on triple sixes.” Ling Tian turned to Wang Yong and spoke calmly.
Wang Yong pushed all their chips onto the table.
The onlookers thought Ling Tian was crazy. Who gambles like this? It was just too reckless.
The Dice Queen was a bit surprised—why was her opponent so confident? Instead of betting on big or small, he chose the rarest triple, and wagered everything. Still, she didn’t believe Ling Tian could win, and saw this as the best opportunity to wipe him out in one go and avoid further trouble.
The odds on triple sixes were 1:18.
In other words, Ling Tian’s bet of 190,000 would yield over three million if he won—but if he lost, he’d forfeit it all.
The pressure was much greater on the Dice Queen’s side, but she was confident she could handle this brash youngster easily.
She yanked off her coat, revealing a tank top and a tattoo of red peach blossoms across her skin. Clearly, she was ready to go all out.
Ling Tian closed his eyes and waited for the result.
After a minute of intense shaking, the Dice Queen set the cup down. At the very moment the cup touched the table, Ling Tian placed his hands on the table and flashed a smile at her. “Guess—do you think I’ll win this round?”
The Dice Queen sneered, “Let me make this clear: no one has ever beaten me.”
Ling Tian used his spiritual sense to check the dice—one, three, and five. He then directed his internal energy into the cup and said, “Don’t be so sure of yourself. If I lose, I’m down 190,000, but if you lose, you’re out over three million.”
As he spoke, Ling Tian manipulated the dice with his energy, turning all three to six.
The Dice Queen was rattled by his words. He was right—if he lost, it was only money he’d won from someone else, but if she lost, she’d have to answer to the casino for a massive payout.
Ling Tian said calmly, “Winning or losing comes down to a single moment. Let’s begin.”
The Dice Queen shot him a heavy look, then slowly lifted the cup.
When the three sixes appeared, the crowd erupted in cheers. The Dice Queen, unable to bear the shock, fainted on the spot.
Ling Tian waved to Wang Yong. “Keep collecting the money!”
