Chapter 43: Go for it, Brother-in-law 20
Xining watched from the side as Yeyu extracted the formula for Elsa’s potion. Beside them, the Menglong lay sprawled out like a massive, pink, hairless dog.
The Menglong asked curiously, "Weren't you going to roast her? Why did you stop?"
"What, do you want to eat her?" Xining asked.
The Menglong, whose body took up as much space as a small hill, blinked its innocent, adorable pink eyes. "No, I don’t eat human flesh. My daddy said humans aren't for eating. Even though humans are lowly, they are numerous, and they would use that as an excuse to kill us. Besides, lowly humans don't taste good; eating them would stain the noble dragon bloodline."
Xining was speechless.
*Is it really okay for the dragon’s daddy to say that? He’s misleading the little dragon.* But that was fine, at least it wouldn't eat people.
Once the formula was secured, they tossed all of Maria’s luggage—along with Elsa, who was bound in weeds and had a beautiful face smudged with soot—onto a carriage. They ordered the coachman to make an urgent delivery to return her to the Antilia Manor by that evening.
"Goodbye, dear cousin! Don't come back!" Yeyu waved at the departing carriage.
Having gotten rid of Elsa and left her to depart the Gamio Manor in a miserable, bedraggled state, Xining felt a sense of great satisfaction. She turned to Yeyu and said, "Hey, copy that formula for me!" Even if it was useless in other worlds, in this world, she wanted every advantage she could get.
Yeyu looked completely bewildered, as if he were truly innocent. "What formula?"
Xining was speechless. Compared to Yeyu’s hidden depths, she felt like a pure, innocent little rabbit once again.
Yeyu then snapped Elsa’s wand in two and tossed the gem from it to the Menglong. "Take it and play!"
All dragons loved shiny things—gems, gold, and the like. Seeing the gem, the Menglong pursed its lips with an air of disdain. "Hmph, such a tiny little thing."
Despite its words, it lay down in front of the gem and refused to budge. It squinted its eyes as if dozing, and when no one was looking, it secretly extended its pink tail, hooked the gem, and dragged it under its belly, pinning it down firmly.
*Mmm, so comfortable.* It squinted its watery pink eyes in utter satisfaction.
Things were truly intense now. The door to Slan’s bedroom had remained shut, and the movements on the bed inside were quite vigorous; the creaking could be heard throughout the entire floor, making the passing maids blush.
It didn't stop for a full three hours. Xining couldn't help but seek out Yeyu for the formula. This was essentially the magic world's version of a virility pill—with no toxic side effects and countless benefits. If she manufactured it and sold it, she wouldn't have to worry about a lack of customers.
Yeyu sat in a chair, holding the wand, his long legs propped up on the table. A faint smile hung on his handsome face—a smile that made her heart skip a beat. "Come get it when you're older!"
"I want it now," Xining insisted, thick-skinned. The formula was so long and filled with lizards, bats, and all sorts of bizarre ingredients; there was no way she could memorize it.
"This is only for men to use. Who do you want to use it on?" Yeyu’s tone became even more teasing.
"Are you going to give it to me or not?" Xining hardened her tone.
Yeyu toyed with the wand, then vanished. Xining felt someone gently blowing air into her ear: "The moment you can help me test the potion, I’ll give it to you. Otherwise, don't even think about it!"
*Damn it!* Xining’s scalp tingled. She spun around violently, but there was no one in the room—not even a hair of Yeyu remained.
She couldn't beat him, and she didn't know magic. She couldn't very well go to Slan or Maria and ask them to get the aphrodisiac formula from Yeyu on her behalf... Forget it, she didn’t want to be beaten to death!
She wasn't afraid of a rogue, but she was afraid of a rogue who knew magic. Faced with someone so thick-skinned, Xining was at a loss.
There was one more thing to solve: the Menglong needed an arrangement. She had promised it could sleep in her room, but the upstairs floor of the Gamio Manor, though made of stone, couldn't handle the weight of such a dragon.
So, the room was moved from the upstairs to the downstairs, and it had to be a larger space, otherwise, it wouldn't fit the Menglong’s makeshift bed. She had no choice but to clear out a small side parlor to use as its quarters.
Looking at the massive pink bedding and the giant pink quilt, the Menglong held its head high. "It’ll do, I suppose."
Yeyu, suppressing a smile, pulled Xining away as if they were leaving, but they hid behind the door to peek. They saw the Menglong, once it thought no one was around, immediately pounce. The massive dragon rolled around on the pink bedding like a giant dog, belly up, legs in the air, rubbing its back against the floor and twisting around. After rolling over, the Menglong spat out the gem it had hidden in its mouth, placed it under its belly, and wore an expression of complete contentment.
It wasn't until evening that Slan emerged from the bedroom. He showed no sign of exhaustion; on the contrary, he was full of vigor. He sat at the head of the table, lost in thought as he ate, his cheeks flushed with a rosy hue.
Maria had snuck away while Slan was asleep.
Xining was speechless. *This isn't scientific. Three hours, three whole hours! Maria should be exhausted, probably with legs so sore she could barely walk, so how did she just leave? And Slan shows no signs of fatigue... Alright, the power of the tonic.*
Slan regained his focus and noticed Yeyu and Su Yun looking at him with suppressed smiles on both sides. His face turned even redder, and he coughed twice. "I intend to propose to Maria. If she agrees, I want to hold the wedding immediately. Do you two have any opinions?"
*They’ve already done the deed; how could she escape?* He had known he liked Maria for a long time, yet he had stubbornly held out even after being drugged, waiting for his "true love" to come along.
Yeyu raised an eyebrow. "Get married, then."
But Xining knew how fickle Maria could be. "What if my sister doesn't agree?"
Slan’s face, which had been glowing, dimmed significantly. Maria’s misunderstandings regarding him were deep; she certainly wouldn't agree. He was desperate to take responsibility, but she didn't want him to.
"I'm finished," Xining said, standing up. Once she reached the doorway, she quickly hid to eavesdrop.
Yeyu placed a small crystal vial on the table.
"What is this?" Slan frowned.
"I found it on Elsa. It’s the same potion you drank today," Yeyu said, calm and rather cynical. "If you can't bring yourself to say it, take a sip before you see her."
"Preposterous!" Slan scolded indignantly. "Throw this filthy thing away immediately. Elsa is truly shameless; you mustn't let her influence you."
*Who is really the worse one here?* Slan hadn't seen Yeyu’s methods of dealing with Elsa. Of course, she had started the fire, but she hadn't told Yeyu to let it burn until Elsa was terrified and her face was truly smudged with soot before finally putting it out.
"Fine~" Yeyu picked up the vial with an air of resignation and vanished in a flash.
Slan sat at the table, clutching his head in his hands, sighing deeply like a man suffering from a broken heart.
Xining snuck away and walked into her room. The Menglong was lying on its pink bed, looking at her with eager eyes. "Master, I'm hungry."
"Oh, I'll figure something out." Xining was about to leave, planning to ask Slan or Yeyu for a sheep or a donkey to solve the Menglong’s hunger, and perhaps go hunting tomorrow to get more food.
The Menglong said in a dainty voice, "I’m a vegetarian."
Xining was speechless.
