Chapter 18: The School Bully 18
On Sunday, after a restful sleep, Xi Ning woke up feeling refreshed. She chose an elegant yet modest outfit and applied a natural, light makeup. Today, she no longer needed the triangular bandage; it had been three weeks, and if asked, she would say she was almost healed.
Once ready, she took Aunt Li with her and drove the Phantom to Hua Zeyun’s family beauty salon.
To her surprise, not only was Hua Zeyun’s mother there, but also Leng Heming’s mother.
Xi Ning greeted them warmly. The two mothers responded politely, exchanging measured smiles and compliments. They praised Aunt Li for raising such a good daughter, saying she was as beautiful and graceful as her mother.
Leng Heming’s mother was far from the perpetually icy type; instead, she was quite warm and enthusiastic.
The three mothers went inside for their hair appointments. Hua Zeyun, naturally playing the host, greeted them briefly before the three of them headed off to school.
As the car arrived, Yao Yao spotted five hooligans surrounding An Xiyan. She hadn’t expected the other two mothers to be there and spent some time exchanging pleasantries.
She was genuinely impressed by this black-hearted lotus—despite the school’s relatively remote location, she somehow managed to attract so many hooligans right to the school gate. It defied reason!
Glancing aside, she saw Wang Zilong walking out of the school.
Xi Ning immediately said, “Old Wang, go check it out. Be careful, they might have knives!”
Hearing this, Old Wang opened the car door and got out.
Xi Ning then turned to Leng Heming and Hua Zeyun. “You two stop Wang Zilong. He has a competition tomorrow. Don’t let the opponents cheat or cause him any trouble. Don’t worry, Old Wang trained at the Songshan Shaolin Martial Arts Academy for nine years; dealing with this is a breeze for him.”
Leng Heming and Hua Zeyun promptly got out and intercepted Wang Zilong.
Meanwhile, An Xiyan was already struggling with the hooligans, shouting loudly.
“Don’t touch me! Help…”
Her voice was so loud, yet so delicate and pitiful. Xi Ning was thoroughly impressed.
She pulled out her phone to call the police.
Hua Zeyun even ran to the school security office, and two guards came out quickly, armed with riot forks and batons.
But Old Wang was formidable. Within moments, he had knocked the hooligans down. One of them, half-dead drunk, even pulled out a knife, which Old Wang swiftly disarmed before delivering a palm strike that knocked him unconscious.
Originally, Wang Zilong was quite eager to jump in and play hero, but Leng Heming held him back. With Old Wang’s skill—each punch and kick bringing down an opponent—and the timely arrival of the school guards, the situation was resolved in under two minutes. Wang Zilong was no longer involved.
After being rescued, An Xiyan, tears in her eyes, threw herself into Wang Zilong’s arms, trembling as if terrified.
Wang Zilong was taken aback but held her gently, soothing her softly, “Don’t be afraid, it’s over now, you’re safe.”
Leng Heming...
Hua Zeyun...
Xi Ning...
It seemed like Old Wang and the guards had done the rescue; why was she clinging to Wang Zilong?
The sound of sirens soon filled the air. An Xiyan shuddered all over, released Wang Zilong, and looked toward the arriving police car. “You called the police?”
Xi Ning sneered coldly, “Of course. For something like this, you have to call the police. They pulled out knives—why wouldn’t you? Now they’re cracking down hard on violence at school gates. Those who commit such acts will rot in jail for at least three to five years.”
Xi Ning clearly saw the panic on An Xiyan’s face.
The police arrived quickly. Since Xi Ning reported the number of offenders, the public security bureau took it seriously and sent three police cars.
From the call to arrival, it took only six minutes, which explained why the area’s security was always so good.
With CCTV footage, a weapon involved, more than three people—which counted as group crime—and the location being the school entrance, the police immediately handcuffed the dazed hooligans and loaded them into the patrol cars one by one.
The hooligan who pulled the knife finally came to his senses once handcuffed and shouted, “Xiyan, if you want to save me, think of the old times…”
“Anything to discuss, take it up at the station!” an officer pressed his head down and forced him into the car.
This was quite the drama!
Xi Ning and the others shot suspicious glances at An Xiyan, whose face had turned deathly pale. She bit her lip tightly and was also escorted into the police car.
A police officer came over, asking Old Wang, the guards, and Xi Ning’s party to accompany them to the station for statements.
Xi Ning agreed and asked Old Wang to drive them all to the station.
Seeing the Phantom worth over five million, the police frowned slightly but were relieved nothing serious had happened. This was a prestigious school; the wealthy families here held significant social influence. Any incident would spark bad publicity and hurt the school's reputation.
Inside the car, even Wang Zilong remained silent, and the atmosphere was unusually tense.
Recalling the hooligan’s desperate cry for An Xiyan as if she were his last hope, Xi Ning remembered the original story: because the incident happened outside the school’s surveillance range, An Xiyan claimed not to know the hooligans. Wang Zilong’s father, wanting to avoid trouble, chose not to report it.
So it turned out An Xiyan actually knew these hooligans. It made sense; hooligans wouldn’t typically waste their time harassing girls at a remote, elite school unless there was some connection.
Xi Ning thought for a moment and called Mr. Li, briefly explaining the situation and asking him to send a lawyer.
She put on an angry front: “Wang Zilong almost got hurt. If he’d been stabbed, besides missing tomorrow’s match, his life would have been in danger. Please inform Mr. Wang too, and reassure him we’ll get to the bottom of this. No matter what, these hooligans will face the full consequences.”
Hua Zeyun and Leng Heming exchanged looks, understanding that Miss Li intended to escalate this from a simple school security detention to a full criminal case—making sure those who should serve a year in prison would serve every day.
If An Xiyan was truly involved with these hooligans, it would be utterly unscrupulous. Just moments ago, she had been clinging to Wang Zilong—thinking about it sent chills down their spines. This woman was truly frightening.
Xi Ning made another call to Mrs. Li. Since the three mothers were together getting their hair done, it was a perfect chance to let them know. The more people aware, the better. If An Xiyan was hiding something, they wouldn’t let her get away with it.
At the station, not only did the lawyer Mr. Li sent arrive, but Mr. Li himself, along with Wang Zilong’s parents, came as well. It was a day off, and since they all lived nearby, Mr. Li had brought them along.
“Qingqing, are you alright?” Although usually reserved, Mr. Li treasured his daughter greatly. Even knowing she was fine, he asked with concern, scrutinizing her to make sure she was truly unharmed.
“I’m fine!” Xi Ning smiled reassuringly. “Old Wang’s martial arts skills—you and Dad know well. Even if they had guns, they wouldn’t stand a chance against him.”
Mr. Li immediately thanked Old Wang, who felt a bit embarrassed and insisted it was his duty.
Wang Zilong’s parents naturally fussed over him, worried sick at the thought of those hooligans wielding knives.
Shortly after, Leng Heming and Hua Zeyun’s fathers arrived as well. Presumably, their wives had called them. Upon hearing the news, they rushed over to check on things. After all, these four families’ businesses were interconnected, and they often crossed paths. More importantly, their sons’ matters were their own concerns.
The matter was far from over.
