Amidst the cries of alarm from the crowd, Li Xin’s military knife swiftly struck down onto Kill’s shoulder. With a forceful slash, the blade tore through the combat camouflage and left a ten-centimeter gash on Kill’s pale shoulder. Blood spurted out in a gush, splattering Li Xin’s face, savage and merciless.

The power and speed granted by the King of Games attribute were manifest in all their glory at this moment!

How could these foreigners, with their physical prowess, possibly match Li Xin?

“Drop your weapons and surrender!” came the shout from an NPC inspector. Suddenly, an entire team of fully armed NPC inspectors emerged from nowhere, instantly surrounding Li Xin.

This time, twice as many muzzles were trained on him as before.

Everyone was stunned—this Chinese undercover really dared to act, and right in the enemy camp! Wasn’t this a clear path to certain death? The German players swarmed around Kill, asking after him with concern. The Korean and American players simply folded their arms, pointing and sneering at the spectacle before them.

The NPC inspector captain announced loudly:

“The Angel Legion’s undercover has attempted to assassinate the squad leader of the Black Lion Legion. Multiple crimes—summary execution by firing squad, carried out immediately!”

Click, click, click… A group of NPC inspectors loaded their bullets.

Kill, now bandaged but wracked with pain, felt a twisted sense of satisfaction. This Chinese undercover dared attack him? Execution and title erasure—how satisfying!

“Ha ha ha, you fool! You’re finished, deservedly so!” Kill laughed wildly, while the Chinese players were so agitated they nearly rioted.

“Why can he insult us, but we can’t fight back?”

“Why should a Chinese player be executed? This is unfair, utterly unfair!”

“Germans, you’re courting death!”

But their passionate protests only made the NPC inspectors move more decisively, and the foreign players smirked and jeered all the more.

Hundreds of players watched, the scene growing ever more intense. In the distance, several NPC officers in formal uniforms were hurrying over. The highest-ranked player present was only a company commander; it was clear these NPCs held ranks at least at battalion level or above.

Yet, being still far away, they could not possibly intervene in time. The authority of the military police exceeded even that of the officers; their arrival would change nothing. The four NPC inspectors pulled their triggers at once, and a volley of gunfire erupted, forcing everyone to cover their ears and instinctively shut their eyes and turn away.

The gunshots were deafening, reverberating to the core, making heads ache as if they would split.

In this era of peace, who had ever witnessed an army execute an enemy undercover? Even the American, German, and Korean players who looked down on the Chinese had never seen such bloody scenes before. To claim they weren’t frightened or uneasy would be a lie.

Clutching their ears and closing their eyes was only natural.

A few seconds later, as the gunfire faded and everyone assumed the man was dead, they opened their eyes to witness the fate of this arrogant Chinese undercover. Let this be an example to all—after today, how could any Chinese player in the Black Lion Legion dare challenge them again?

“Ha ha ha, serves him right! He’s…” Kill’s triumphant laughter abruptly died, his eyes wide with disbelief at the sight before him.

He was not alone; every player present wore the same stunned expression.

The four NPC inspectors who had fired now lay unconscious on the ground, while Li Xin, who should have been shot in the head, stood unscathed before the NPC inspector captain. In his left hand, he pressed a red-glowing military knife against the captain’s throat, and with his right hand, he idly stroked his nose.

The knife was entirely crimson, emanating an eerie red light that unsettled all who looked upon it.

The NPC inspector captain’s face was ashen, his body trembling, his forehead drenched in cold sweat.

What the hell just happened? Can anyone explain this to me?

Everyone’s mind echoed with the same question—bewildered beyond measure.

But soon, someone recovered and burst out laughing.

“Ha! Chinese, you’re an enemy undercover, and now you’ve violated the Black Lion Legion’s discipline by assaulting and threatening our inspectors. You’re done for, just wait for the NPC army’s judgment and punishment!”

“That’s right—execution by firing squad is too merciful. Perhaps you’ll face the gallows instead!”

“Best if it’s a public hanging—let everyone see it and learn their lesson, so these would-be rebels know better than to cause trouble again!”

Their words, full of insinuation, were clearly meant for all the Chinese players present.

But none noticed the look of shock frozen on Kill’s face.

“Make way, clear a path!” came a commanding voice. Several officers entered, frowning as they took in the scene.

The crowd—particularly the American, German, and Korean players—grew even more excited. With the officers here, this guy was surely doomed.

The foremost officer, a battalion commander, strode quickly to stand before Li Xin and the NPC inspector, his expression grim.

“Sir Yiran, I apologize for today’s events. The fault is mine for poor supervision. I will see to military discipline at once.”

What? Sir Yiran? An apology? Taking the blame himself?

Everyone felt as though they’d just heard the lie of the century.

NPCs were nothing but game data, obeying orders from above without question. But the players were not so easily cowed. Wasn’t the battalion commander just game data too? Wouldn’t he one day be under the players’ boots?

“Commander, this man is a spy! He injured an officer and attacked the inspectors—he should be arrested and shot immediately!”

“That’s right, Commander! His crimes are grave—ten men should execute him at once to warn all evildoers with treacherous hearts!”

“I agree! Brothers, surround him—don’t let him escape!”

The German players moved as one, instantly surrounding Li Xin. The American and Korean players watched, content to let others do the dirty work.

But the Chinese players were enraged. What are you strutting about for, Germans? A few dozen Chinese players gathered together—fewer in number, but their shouts of support for Li Xin were loud and clear. This was their hero! If he dared stand alone against so many, what did they have to fear?

As conflict loomed, Li Xin remained unruffled, idly stroking his nose as he pressed his knife more firmly against the inspector captain’s throat. Faint traces of blood appeared on the NPC’s neck.

The battalion-level officers were beside themselves with anger. Was this man intent on creating chaos?

Suddenly, the battalion commander drew his pistol and fired a shot into the air. The gun’s roar silenced the drill ground; everyone exchanged uneasy glances. For now, the NPCs were still in charge—an execution could be ordered with a single word.

“Inspector Squad, Guard Squad—arrest all those causing trouble and bring them before the disciplinary committee for strict punishment!”

“Yes, sir!” A chorus of NPC soldiers responded, quickly detaining the Chinese and German players who had been confronting each other.

Now the crowd was stricken, scattering in fear. The German players, seeing this, thought better of coming to their compatriots’ aid. The American and Korean players looked on, bewildered, their eyes fixed on Li Xin, who wore a cold, mocking smile throughout.

“Commander, why are we being arrested? Why are we to be judged?” protested a burly German player.

“Why?” The commander sneered, gritting his teeth.

“You are the ones provoking trouble, disregarding military discipline, and showing contempt for your superiors! Most importantly, you dared to utter slander, accusing a superior officer of being an enemy spy. That is open rebellion!”

A superior officer? The crowd was baffled.

Then the commander walked up to Li Xin, smiling as he said, “Yiran is an officer of the Black Lion Legion. Not only are all of you beneath him—even I hold a lower rank.”

What? The crowd was petrified, left speechless…
