Chapter 88: Whether It Bites You Does Not Matter

In just a few breaths, the whole thing had happened.

Qin Hongfei quickly took off her goggles and nearly scared herself to death. Fortunately, Tang Jinnan and Shou had moved with lightning speed. Her gaze chilled slightly as she asked first, “Brother, Sister, are you all right?”

Qin Yun felt aggrieved. Qin Yun felt like crying.

But how could a real man say he had been frightened to tears by a dog? He could not.

“A pit bull.” Qin Hongfei did not expose his bluster. After a quick judgment, she came to a conclusion and frowned. “One of the most aggressive and savage breeds. It’s forbidden to keep them in the city. Good thing Tang Xiaojin and Shou acted in time, or one bite would have left you lame.” As she spoke, she also felt a little relieved.

Qin Fei looked gratefully at the two of them. Her sister really had found useful people.

Qin Yun was furious. “Where did this beast come from...”

And as if summoned by his words, the owner appeared.

The brother and sister of the Li family arrived a moment later, having also seen the earlier scene. Feeling somewhat guilty, they looked over and saw their little pet pinned beneath a foot. Her voice remained cool. “Li Xin, your dog nearly bit my sister and Qin Yun.”

Li Xin, protective of her pet and full of confidence, said, “It wouldn’t do that. My Xiao Qiao is very well behaved. It doesn’t bite people, it’s just a little mischievous.” She thought that saying so would make Qin Hongfei and the others let go of the dog, but they still did not, which left her momentarily stunned.

Qin Hongfei said flatly, “Are you a dog?”

Li Xin blinked. “I’m not a dog. We’re the same age, don’t you remember?”

Qin Hongfei said, “If you’re not a dog, how do you know it won’t bite people? I thought maybe you were a dog and could understand a beast’s language.”

Li Xin was spoiled but not stupid. She understood immediately that Qin Hongfei was cursing her as a dog, and her face flushed red. Frowning with her nose wrinkled, she said unhappily, “Qin Hongfei, Xiao Qiao was only being a little naughty and playing with you. Was that necessary? Do you even know what breed this dog is? My big brother spent several thousand yuan buying it for me. If you hurt it, you could sell yourself and still not pay for it. Hurry up and let it go.”

With a low roar, the pit bull seized the moment when everyone relaxed and suddenly lunged, twisting its head around to bite at Shou.

“You beast!” Even Shou had not expected the dog to be so ferocious. He quickly withdrew the foot pinning it, then kicked out hard with his right leg, sending the dog flying away from them and stretching out a hand to shield Tang Jinnan. He glared at Li Xin and snapped, “Idiot! And this is what you call not biting people?”

Li Xin had not expected this either, but quickly said, “You were the one who hurt it first!”

A cold light flashed in Shou’s eyes. He lowered his hand and stepped closer. “Say that again and see what happens. Believe me, I’ll tear you apart.”

Li Xin, seeing him suddenly turn fierce, took a frightened step back.

The pit bull, for its part, seemed to realize it could not beat Shou and Tang Jinnan. After getting up, it hunched its body but did not dare come closer. Its eyes were full of murderous intent, as though it might pounce at any moment, yet it also seemed wary of something.

Tang Jinnan stared at the dog, the emotions in his eyes growing faintly cold and distant.

After watching it a few more times, Qin Hongfei gradually saw what was going on. The Li family really had something wrong with their heads; they would keep anything. She frowned. “Li Xin, this pit bull hasn’t been fully trained yet. It’s not suitable for ordinary people to keep, especially for people without a brain. It could hurt someone.”

Li Xin thought Qin Hongfei was simply jealous that she had such a valuable dog and retorted, “No it won’t. Xiao Qiao is very obedient. It won’t bite me.”

Qin Hongfei gave her a look as if she were an idiot. Did you misunderstand something? Do you think I’m concerned about you?
