Chapter 32: How Wonderful It Is Not to Study
Qin Wanwan was scolded harshly, her eyes turning slightly red. Originally, it was because Duoduo’s role had been taken back. Duoduo had come crying to her, and after receiving some benefits, Qin Wanwan thought she’d stir up some trouble for Qin Fei at home. In the past, if Qin Fei just kept silent, things would be over with a few scoldings, but this time Qin Hongfei shamelessly pretended to be pitiful.
However, thinking of what happened in her past life, she took a deep breath and said, “Grandma, I know I was wrong. I only lost my temper because the loan sharks came after me... Now that I think about it, it was probably Duoduo and her friends who encouraged the loan sharks to come. I was just too muddleheaded. There won’t be a next time, so please don’t be angry.”
Grandma Qin was not afraid of her descendants making mistakes, only afraid they would refuse to admit them. Seeing Qin Wanwan admit her fault, her expression softened considerably.
She then continued, “Let me say this again: I don’t care how you fight among yourselves at home, but if any of you ever join outsiders to harm your own siblings, I will not forgive you.”
Qin Xiaoshen looked dissatisfied, but Qin Wanwan managed to keep her composure. “Grandma, there won’t be a next time,” she replied.
Qin Hongfei glanced at her in surprise. In her memory, Qin Wanwan was always a crybaby, bursting into tears at the slightest problem—or else acting rashly and headstrong. She hadn’t expected her to be so calm now. She realized she had underestimated her.
Grandma Qin turned her gaze to Qin Fei and her sister. “You two aren’t much better! And, how did you get the role back after it was snatched? Is it true that you seduced the director?” If that were true, she would beat the two girls herself!
They were still so young! They had a long road ahead—if they started down the wrong path now, their whole lives would be ruined!
No matter how foolish the eldest branch might be, these were still her granddaughters, her eldest son’s children.
Qin Hongfei explained, “That’s not true, Grandma. The director’s equipment broke down at the time, and I fixed it for him. He promised to give my sister back the role. As for Duoduo, she tried to steal a chicken but lost the rice instead!”
“There were a lot of people there who saw it and can testify!”
She spoke with perfect composure.
Grandma Qin’s expression eased considerably. “Good, you knew to win back respect for your sister. That’s how it should be.”
Second Aunt looked at Hongfei, feeling she had changed a lot, then said, “Hongfei, Afei, you two came straight back without freshening up. Mom, let the children go clean up and rest—they must be tired.”
Second Uncle’s son immediately volunteered, “It’s so dark out, I’ll walk my cousins home.”
Qin Hongfei suspected he just wanted to avoid doing his homework but didn’t expose him. Speaking of homework, she suddenly remembered something. “Grandma, I want to go back to school.”
Qin Fei looked at her in shock.
Second Uncle’s son was also stunned.
Not going to school was such a relief—why would she want to go back?
Mentioning school, Grandma Qin frowned at her. “We begged you to study before, but you refused. Now you want to go back? You’ve already dropped out for a semester—how will you keep up with your studies? I’ve already arranged a job for you…”
Qin Hongfei hurried to say, “No, Grandma, I want to go back to school.”
Going back to school wasn’t as simple as Qin Hongfei wishing for it. Having dropped out for several months, she had already violated school rules and would be expelled. To return, she needed the school’s approval, which required adults to communicate and even pull some strings.
Qin Hongfei was not naïve enough to think she could just ask the teacher and go back.
