Chapter Sixty-Seven: Seizing Two Elite Units
When Qin Chuan closed in within five meters of the two lords, he finally unleashed his Flow Strike, aiming directly at the Cold Iron Bow Lord. Although the Cold Iron Bow Lord fired arrow after arrow at Qin Chuan, every shot missed its mark.
At a distance of five meters, the Flow Strike landed almost instantly.
A shrill sound cut through the air.
Sensing the imminent danger, the Mammoth Lord’s eyes widened as he hurriedly activated a skill.
“Stalwart Shield!”
A shield with a one-meter radius materialized, immediately enveloping and protecting the Cold Iron Bow Lord. The shield’s resilience matched that of the Mammoth Lord himself—over 450 points.
As soon as the shield appeared, both lords couldn’t help but smirk internally.
“What a fool, haha!”
After all, if they could withstand this single blow, the tables would turn and it would be their turn to slay Qin Chuan.
Clearly, the two lords had boundless confidence in their shield.
Yet...
With a crisp sound, the sword tip pierced straight through the shield and, in the next instant, struck the Cold Iron Bow Lord.
A scream split the air.
“Ding! Critical hit triggered, damage increased by 150%, knockback effect applied.”
“Ding! Killed Level 20, Tier 3, low-grade mutant Cold Iron Bow Lord, received 31,250 experience points. Over-level kill bonus: 100% additional experience. Congratulations, host, you have gained 62,500 experience points.”
“Ding! Killed an elite subordinate of the ruler of Deer Chase Plains, additional reward: 62,500 experience points.”
With a single strike, Qin Chuan instantly slew the Cold Iron Bow Lord, leaving everyone present in stunned silence.
A gasp of disbelief swept through the crowd.
“How is this possible?!”
A shield with over 450 resilience was indeed formidable, but in his state of slaughter, Qin Chuan’s sharpness was nearly at 500; breaking such a shield was mere child’s play.
As for the Cold Iron Bow Lord—he was pitifully slain in a single critical blow.
“Now it’s your turn, big guy!”
At that moment, the stunned Mammoth Lord finally came to his senses and hastily activated the skill Earthquake.
Earthquake would inflict a slow and sluggish effect on any targets within three meters.
Because Qin Chuan’s attack targeted the Cold Iron Bow Lord, the knockback effect did not apply to the Mammoth Lord. Thus, Qin Chuan was practically left standing atop the Mammoth Lord’s back.
“Glide!”
Qin Chuan glided three meters into the air, deftly dodging the Earthquake, and in the next instant, blinked to the ground, unleashing three seconds of frenzied attacks.
Within those three seconds, Qin Chuan landed eight consecutive sword strikes without fail, carving eight deep gashes into the Mammoth Lord’s body.
Roaring in agony, the Mammoth Lord found himself utterly unable to retaliate against Qin Chuan’s furious onslaught.
Each sword stroke broke through his defenses, and to make matters worse, inflicted a 25% slow effect.
The Mammoth Lord, already slow, became unbearably sluggish, completely unable to track Qin Chuan’s phantom-like movements.
As the three seconds expired, Qin Chuan returned to his starting position.
Now, in a fit of rage, the Mammoth Lord unleashed his ultimate skill—Charge.
This ultimate could knock airborne and stun targets in a five-meter line.
A sly smile curled at the corner of Qin Chuan’s lips, for his Flow Strike had just cooled down, and he was ready to target the dazed Cold Iron Bow once again.
Not only did he evade the Charge, but he could also build up another round of Fury.
Once more, a shrill note rang out.
Another scream—another instant kill, and then another seamless combo followed.
“Ding! Fury is now full.”
As Qin Chuan returned to his starting point, the Mammoth Lord was still charging toward the spot where Qin Chuan had just stood; in other words, Qin Chuan was now behind him.
So...
With another piercing note, Qin Chuan unleashed Flow Strike once more—this time, a savage critical hit.
A loud crash and a cracking sound were followed by a pained scream.
This time, the Mammoth Lord suffered unprecedented damage, his body splitting open with a massive fissure, and the subsequent eight sword strokes swiftly ended his life.
“Ding! Freeze triggered, duration 1.5 seconds.”
“Ding! Lethal Strike triggered.”
“Ding! Killed Level 20, Tier 3, low-grade mutant Mammoth Lord, received 31,250 experience points. Over-level kill bonus: 100% additional experience. Congratulations, host, you have gained 62,500 experience points.”
Qin Chuan launched three waves of attacks in less than ten seconds, yet both lords had already fallen. Such a blow was undoubtedly fatal to both legions.
“Our lord is dead, run for your lives!”
“Heavens, that Black Demon Sword is terrifying!”
Panic instantly swept through both legions, and they erupted into a frenzied rout.
Yet to Qin Chuan, their escape was no different from ants scurrying away.
With a resonant hum, the sword’s song heralded the beginning of the massacre.
“Ding! Killed Level 19, supreme Mammoth...”
“Ding! Killed Level 19, supreme Cold Iron Bow...”
This time, it took Qin Chuan only five minutes to completely wipe out the two elite units.
Thus, nearly all five elite legions under the great lord had been slaughtered.
Such an outcome was beyond the imagination of all the spirit beasts.
Had all five elite units joined forces to besiege Qin Chuan, the result would have been entirely different.
But what’s done is done—there are no “what ifs.”
“Devour Origin!”
“Ding! Devour successful, gained 6,000 evolution points.”
“Ding! Devour successful, gained 380 evolution points.”
With this harvest, Qin Chuan claimed 602 lives, and both his experience and origin surged rapidly.
Evolution Points: 774,800 / 1,638,000
Experience: 4,958,400 / 13,107,200
Fury: 100 / 100
Slaughter: 1,422 / 5,000
“Damn, so this is what it feels like to show off! Fantastic!”
Just then, Sleepy Bug came running back, and upon seeing the ground littered with corpses and wreckage, he was utterly dumbfounded.
Ahead, the black longsword glowing with a violet light looked every bit the peerless demon blade, capable of killing anything in its path.
“B-boss, you finished them off so quickly? I was hoping to come back and see if I could help.”
“Boss, you’re savage. You’re really, really savage!”
Sleepy Bug couldn’t find a better word, and simply repeated “savage” over and over.
“Haha, it was nothing, really.”
“Oh, right—Boss, I just spotted someone sneaking around.”
“Who?”
“A Tier 3 Spiked Armored Beast Lord.”
Qin Chuan’s eyes lit up with realization. “No wonder—the last lord turned out to be him, the one who commands an entire squadron of flying beasts.”
“Yeah, Boss, what should we do now?”
Qin Chuan pondered for a moment. “Let’s tail him quietly and see what he’s up to. I remember these guys are loaded with loot.”
Sleepy Bug’s eyes shone at the thought. Last time they killed a Spiked Armored Beast Lord in Wind Spirit Valley, the spoils were immense.
“Yeah, yeah!”
Meanwhile, the Spiked Armored Beast Lord was crouched in a hidden temporary burrow, patiently waiting for prey to wander by.
Rather than vying for glory, he preferred to scavenge and pick up the spoils.
As a member of a special elite unit, he lacked for nothing and was, in fact, fabulously wealthy.
With a salary equivalent to a force of three hundred, he lived a life of comfort and ease, barely lifting a finger; the mere task of refining resources kept him plenty occupied.
If not for the great lord’s orders, he would never have bothered to venture out.
But since he was out, he decided to treat it as a break to relieve the monotony of his refining work.
He could vaguely hear the sounds of fire and battle in the distance, so he set traps behind him, just in case.
Whether there was any reward hardly mattered.
“Huh? It’s gone quiet. Could the battle be over?”
“With those guys around, I bet that Black Demon Sword is dead ten times over. Looks like I wasted my effort again.”
After a while, the Spiked Armored Beast Lord lost all patience, emerged from the ground, and swaggered off.
Had he gone to see for himself, he would have realized that things were nothing like he imagined.
But he was too lazy by nature. The business of hunting down a mere Black Demon Sword hardly seemed worth his attention.
Meanwhile, the sword and the bug trailed after him in secret.
