“What is that? A zombie dog!”

A massive black poodle, missing one ear, slowly emerged from the alleyway.

“Oh my goodness, is that still a poodle?” Chen Jing’er exclaimed in disbelief.

Before them stood a poodle that had lost one ear, its body as large as a horse’s.

Its eyes were a ghostly grayish-white, eerie and terrifying.

“Hiss!”

Another sound came from nearby.

A slightly smaller poodle, about the size of a large wolfdog, appeared beside it, glaring menacingly.

They bared their teeth at the group, scarlet blood dripping slowly from their mouths.

“The bigger one is at least level 8, the smaller one at least level 5,” Lin Yu said with a slight chill as he observed the zombie poodles’ size and aura.

At level 8, the four-dimensional attributes would be around 45 points each. To Lin Yu, this was no different from a level 1 or 2 zombie—just minor nuisances.

“You three take on the smaller one with all your might!” Lin Yu instructed, then turned to face the larger poodle.

“Hiss~”

Both zombie dogs snarled simultaneously, pushing off with their hind legs as they lunged forward with astonishing speed.

“Boom!”

A red flame erupted around Lin Yu’s body, engulfing him completely in a fiery aura.

An overwhelming presence surged forth.

“Super Saiyan?” Liu Yu’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Lin Yu transform.

Lin Yu’s current state resembled a Super Saiyan—his entire body wrapped in flames like a fiery deity.

At that moment, he felt a surge of power.

His strength of 156 points doubled, skyrocketing to 468.

In terms of raw power, he was now more terrifying than a first-tier Evolver, almost reaching second-tier level.

However, his mana was rapidly depleting at a rate of 2 points per second.

With 8600 mana, this fiery form could only be maintained for about an hour.

Once the mana was exhausted, he would temporarily lose access to his innate abilities until it replenished.

“Boom!”

He threw a punch that collided with the poodle’s paw.

Instantly, the large poodle was sent flying backward, unable to withstand Lin Yu’s blow. Half its body exploded apart.

Yet even then, the zombie poodle was not dead; it howled and charged again, acting purely on instinct.

“Bang!”

Lin Yu snapped his fingers lightly.

Suddenly, a massive ring of fire materialized around the zombie poodle, contracting swiftly and trapping it inside.

The flames surged violently, enveloping the beast before detonating with a “boom.”

The zombie poodle was instantly torn to pieces and incinerated into nothingness within the blazing inferno.

The entire sequence took barely a second.

After dispatching the large poodle, Lin Yu glanced toward Chen Jing’er and the others.

Facing level 5 or possibly level 6 zombie dogs, Chen Jing’er’s group was steadily retreating.

In terms of basic attributes, Chen Jing’er was actually slightly stronger than the smaller zombie dog, having consumed numerous attribute fruits.

But she lacked combat experience.

“No!”

Suddenly, a zombie dog kicked Chen Jing’er away, twisted its body, and lunged toward Yang Shanshan with intent to bite.

The three of them paled instantly.

Once bitten by a zombie dog, survival was impossible.

“I want you dead!” Liu Yu’s eyes reddened as he shouted, “Wind Strangle!”

Immediately, countless wind blades appeared around the zombie dog, slicing toward it.

“Sand Thorns!”

At the same time, a sharp shout rang out.

Yang Shanshan, staring at the approaching bloodthirsty jaws in fear, seemed to awaken a power within her.

She raised her right hand abruptly.

The earth before her trembled as a thick spike, about forty to fifty centimeters wide, shot up from the ground, striking the zombie dog fiercely.

The spike was entirely formed of condensed sand, twisting like a vine.

Lin Yu was somewhat surprised.

He hadn’t expected this young couple to awaken their innate abilities simultaneously at such a critical moment.

They managed to knock back the zombie dog, leaving all three momentarily stunned.

“Shanshan, are you okay?” Liu Yu rushed to Yang Shanshan’s side, concern evident.

“Brother Yu, I... I think I’ve awakened my innate ability!” Yang Shanshan said uncertainly.

“Me too!”

“Stop spacing out, finish off the zombie dog!” Lin Yu barked, snapping the trio back to reality.

Wind blades whirled and sandstones shattered in the ensuing battle.

Although the two had awakened their innate abilities, their attribute levels were too low, and their damage output was still inferior to Chen Jing’er’s.

However, their wind blade and sand abilities greatly restrained and bound the zombie dog besides dealing damage.

Soon, the small zombie dog was defeated through their combined efforts, and the three collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.

“Not bad.”

Lin Yu patted Liu Yu on the shoulder, then turned to Chen Jing’er.

“Don’t lose heart. You also have an innate ability hidden inside you; it just hasn’t been activated yet.”

“Really? Brother Yu, you’re not lying to me?” Chen Jing’er’s eyes sparkled with hope.

Recalling Lin Yu engulfed in flames like a deity, she was utterly captivated.

She was determined to be above Lin Yu, never willing to be weaker than anyone else.

Even Liu Yu and Yang Shanshan had awakened their abilities, making her feel somewhat left behind.

Hearing Lin Yu’s affirmation lifted her spirits greatly.

“Your abilities are wind and sand, right?” Lin Yu asked.

“Big Brother, mine is A-grade Wind Power.”

“Big Brother, mine is A-grade Desert Dominion,” Yang Shanshan replied, mimicking Liu Yu by calling Lin Yu “Big Brother.”

“Not bad at all. A-grade talents are already very strong.”

“You should observe and contemplate the use of wind and sand more deeply to learn additional ways to wield your talents,” Lin Yu advised them.

Back at the hotel, after their showers, Chen Jing’er vowed to pin Lin Yu beneath her.

An hour later, Lin Yu took out the crystal cores collected today—ninety-six in total.

“How many do you have?” Lin Yu asked Chen Jing’er.

“Today I got twenty-two, much more than the first day,” the young girl said proudly.

“Absorb them,” Lin Yu said, handing her eight more.

Chen Jing’er accepted them joyfully.

“As soon as someone reaches level 5, the rules will likely descend.”

Lin Yu felt a sense of anticipation.

As for himself, there was no need to rush leveling up. Stage Zero was the best time to lay the foundation. Advancing to Stage One too early could be detrimental.

After all, absorbing more attribute fruits at Stage Zero meant each future advancement would double his attributes.

Moreover, with his current strength, using his innate abilities made him stronger than a Stage One Evolver. Why rush advancement?

Gathering attribute fruits remained the top priority.
