Chapter 9: This Truly Is a Mad Surgery
Hearing this, Lu Xiao suddenly became anxious.
"How could this happen?"
There was no fluctuation in the prison doctor's voice.
"My friend, your cellular activity is extremely high; wounds usually heal themselves very quickly!"
Lu Xiao raised another question.
"Then why has the wound on my back persisted?"
The prison doctor's voice came again.
"It is likely that the wound has been tainted by the power of a curse, or perhaps it was caused by that chainsaw of your surgeon friend!"
The prison doctor offered words of comfort.
"Rest assured, my friend! I am a qualified doctor; healing patients is my lifelong pursuit! Let me give you a physical examination first!"
Lu Xiao nodded, his tone somewhat urgent.
"My friend, I absolutely trust your medical skills! Let's start immediately!"
When it came to his own body, Lu Xiao dared not delay. After pushing Liuguang off the operating table, he immediately lay down on it himself.
The prison doctor stepped forward and used his finger to gently slice open Lu Xiao's back. He then dipped his finger into some of the blood and brought it to the tip of his nose, explaining to Lu Xiao as he did so.
"I once saw a diagnostic method in an ancient book!"
"The doctor in the book called this method: Observation, Smelling, Inquiry, and Pulse-taking!"
"It is an extremely profound diagnostic technique!"
"I have spent a hundred years, and I have only mastered two!"
"Those are Smelling and Pulse-taking!"
"I modified my olfactory nerves, allowing me to possess a powerful sense of smell!"
"Often, I only need to smell a patient's blood to diagnose their condition!"
Suddenly, he paused. Sensing something amiss, Lu Xiao hurriedly asked, "Then, have you smelled what kind of illness I have?"
The prison doctor was silent for a long moment, and then his tone became extremely serious and sharp.
"I smell the scent of a curse in your blood!"
Hearing that it was a curse, Lu Xiao breathed a sigh of relief.
"So it's just a curse! I thought I was sick, you really scared me!"
However, the prison doctor's tone was not very optimistic.
"This curse is very rare and very powerful. I have been practicing medicine for who knows how many years, and this is only the second time I have seen it!"
Hearing this, Lu Xiao grew anxious again.
"Is that true?"
The prison doctor nodded.
"The last time I saw this curse, it was on a pig!"
"In the end, that pig turned into a pile of rotten meat without thought, possessing only instinct, like dog excrement!"
Hearing this, a grotesque smile appeared on Lu Xiao's face.
"Is it really that intense?"
Meanwhile, on the other side of the surveillance monitor, the Doctor was holding a notebook, scribbling rapidly. He recorded the conversation between Lu Xiao and the prison doctor in detail. A terrifying light flickered in his eyes.
"This is truly a precious treasure!"
The staff nearby didn't dare to breathe, fearing they might disturb the Doctor. As for the bloody scene, they didn't feel much; they had seen far bloodier sights. However, their fear of Lu Xiao had deepened significantly.
The prison doctor's voice sounded at this moment.
"My friend! Your symptoms make me feel a bit troubled!"
"I need the help of another friend!"
Seeming worried that Lu Xiao might be afraid, he hurriedly added, "Don't worry! He is an excellent orthopedic surgeon!"
Lu Xiao was somewhat moved.
"How can I thank you, my friend?"
The prison doctor shook his head and said in a deep voice, "I am a doctor with medical ethics; I do not need the patient's thanks! As long as there is a possibility of curing the patient, even if it is only a faint glimmer, I will give it my all!"
Hearing this, Lu Xiao admired the doctor wearing the bird-beak mask from the bottom of his heart.
"You really are a doctor of noble character!"
...
Soon, the prison doctor returned with his friend. He was carrying a large medical kit. Clearly, he had made full preparations this time.
His friend had no flesh or blood on his body, consisting only of a skeleton. It was not a human skeleton, but something resembling the bones of an indescribable creature, clawing and reaching in an extremely exaggerated manner. A massive toolbox—yes, a toolbox—was hanging from the skeleton.
Lu Xiao was already sitting on the operating table waiting. Seeing the prison doctor bring his friend over, he hurriedly asked, "Who is this friend?"
"My name is Ivan!"
The voice came from Lu Xiao's own body. It was not produced by vocal organs, but by the bones vibrating at a specific frequency. When it vibrated, it caused resonance in the bones within Lu Xiao's body, making it sound as if the voice was emanating from Lu Xiao himself.
On the other side of the surveillance, a staff member exclaimed, "Subject S081, The Bone Carver!"
The Doctor's eyes shone as he gripped his notebook tightly, waiting for their voices to come through.
Clang!
Ivan placed the heavy toolbox hanging from his skeleton onto the ground. Beside him, the prison doctor also set down his medical kit.
"Ivan! This is the patient I told you about!"
"He has suffered from that curse! And the curse has penetrated deep into his bone marrow! That is why I had to seek your help!"
Ivan did not speak. Two emerald-green flames flickered incessantly in his hollow eye sockets, as if expressing the fluctuations of his emotions.
The prison doctor opened the medical kit and quickly pulled out a glass bottle containing at least five liters of liquid. He said to Lu Xiao, "My friend! Don't worry, I didn't forget to prepare anesthesia this time!"
"In a moment, I will extract your bones entirely. Even with the anesthesia, the process might be a little painful!"
"You must hold on!"
Hearing this, the corners of Lu Xiao's mouth twitched uncontrollably.
"This is truly a crazy surgery!"
He sighed, then lay down. "Come on! My friend! I trust you!"
Lu Xiao highly approved of the medical skill and ethics displayed by the prison doctor. He believed that this kind doctor would cure him completely. After all, the consequence of this curse was becoming a pile of thoughtless, instinct-driven rotten meat. This was something Lu Xiao could not accept. Therefore, he was desperate to cure the illness in his body.
The prison doctor and Ivan exchanged a look. The soul-fire in Ivan's eye sockets jumped violently, then he leaned over and took a hammer and a small chisel from his toolbox.
The prison doctor's body emitted a sound.
"I will do my best!"
...
With the injection of a large amount of anesthesia, Lu Xiao felt his eyelids grow heavy as if they weighed a thousand pounds. In less than thirty seconds, he drifted into unconsciousness.
The prison doctor extended his fingers and slowly sliced open Lu Xiao's chest. For a time, only the sound of flesh being cut remained in the room. After slicing Lu Xiao open, he took out a bottle of ink-green potion and applied it evenly to the open wound. In an instant, the bleeding stopped.
Subsequently, the prison doctor took out dozens of bottles of various sizes from the medical kit. He poured all the liquids from the bottles onto Lu Xiao's body and then spread them out evenly, using a technique much like curing pork.
Several hours later, the prison doctor held up a skeleton. The skeleton was completely intact, except for the absence of the skull.
On the other side, Ivan had already set up a rack. He took the skeleton and carefully hung it on the frame.
Just then, the unconscious Liuguang slowly opened his eyes. Clearly, he had awakened. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw this hellish scene.
"Holy shit! I must have woken up too fast!"
He hurriedly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the same scene remained. Trembling, he reached out and pinched his thigh. A sharp pain surged through his brain. He finally confirmed that he was not dreaming.
Then, he fainted from fright once again.
