At this moment, countless shuttles and magnetic vehicles had already started up, forming a massive encirclement that steadily closed in on the amusement park. Beneath the vast sky, though clear and cloudless, the oppressive atmosphere was so stifling that breathing became difficult. The citizens, sensing this strange tension, were utterly astonished. Since the founding of the Sky Dome, this was the first time anything like this had happened.

Something momentous was about to occur.

This thought was shared by nearly everyone. True to their longstanding tradition of prudence and self-preservation, they hurried home, shutting their doors tightly behind them.

It seemed that only there, in the safety of their own homes, could they find a haven from misfortune.

“So you were already spent, yet dared to bargain with me. I truly underestimated you, Le Kai!” Wu Meitian’s expression suddenly darkened. Her graceful figure moved like an arrow loosed from a bow, crossing several meters in the blink of an eye. She appeared before Le Kai, her snow-white wrist stretching out.

Looking at the wristwatch that had appeared in her hand, Wu Meitian’s large eyes flashed with a chilling light as she shouted angrily, “Le Kai, so you’ve been stalling for time to send a message. Who are you, really? How dare you play tricks before me—I’ll kill you!”

Wu Meitian was beside herself with rage. Even she did not fully understand why she was so angry. Was it the humiliation of being deceived by a child? Or was it that some last remnant of hope within her heart had finally been shattered?

Le Kai had already sheathed his blade before Wu Meitian lunged at him. Now, his whole body was weak, his head spinning, his strength utterly spent.

Still, the Professor would not ignore the message he’d managed to send—especially considering who Rambo was.

“Stop!” Suddenly, Wu Niantian intervened, thrusting out his arm to block his sister’s strike.

Though Wu Meitian looked delicate, her blows, fueled by fury, were terrifyingly powerful. Even a master like Wu Niantian, after taking her hit head-on, found blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, his body bending under the force.

“Brother, what are you doing? Why stop me? This little thief may be young, but he’s cunning beyond belief. He dared to deceive us—he deserves to die!”

“Cough, cough… Listen to me.” Wu Niantian coughed, a wry smile hidden in his heart as he silently cursed Le Kai.

The reason was simple: Le Kai had whispered something in his ear moments earlier. Because of those words, Wu Niantian could not allow him to die—at least, not yet.

“This boy is powerless now. Even if we must kill him, there’s no need to rush. Now that the secret’s out, this place will soon be a deathtrap. You must go—I’ll handle the aftermath.”

Wu Meitian frowned slightly. “We anticipated this when we decided to kidnap the mayor’s son. We long ago set aside thoughts of survival. For the liberation of the people, even if we die here, what regrets could we have?”

Wu Niantian replied, “That may be, but the Wu family must have heirs, or we’d shame our ancestors. I’ll handle the negotiations. You go—now.”

Wu Meitian’s eyes reddened. She cried out, “No, if anyone goes, it should be you. You’re the Wu family’s only son, and as for me… well, that’s all there is to it. If, when the people finally find true freedom, they remember that there was once someone like me, I’ll be content.”

“Who would have thought that even rebels know true devotion? I’m impressed. In my opinion, this lovely lady is right—you’re the only son, it’s your duty to carry on the family line. You’d better make your escape. Don’t worry, with me here, nothing will happen to this beautiful sister.”

Before the Wu siblings could display their familial affection, a jarring voice interrupted. It was Rambo, who had been eyeing Wu Meitian with unconcealed longing.

Though still young, Rambo seemed precocious and had long since been utterly entranced by Wu Meitian. Despite being a hostage, he fancied himself the hero who would save the beauty, completely forgetting his own predicament. Such foolishness made Le Kai avert his eyes in embarrassment, while Li Yan could only cover her face in shame and edge quietly away, pretending not to know him.

Wu Niantian clearly found Rambo intolerable and barked, “Boy, don’t forget your place. Do you believe I won’t kill you?”

His roar was like a tiger’s, thunderous and overwhelming. Most would have collapsed in terror.

Yet to Le Kai’s surprise, Rambo, though a privileged son of an official, showed some courage, not the spoiled coward one would expect. His face paled for a moment, but he remained unfazed and declared, “Don’t try to bluff me—I’m not so easily frightened. To tell the truth, I came here today to lure you rebels out. Now you’re surrounded, escape is impossible, and your only chance is to follow my orders.”

“Hahaha, such arrogance! Boy, you’re nothing but meat on my chopping block. I can strike whenever I please—don’t try to scare me with your ruthless father. Our Revolutionary Alliance exists solely to overthrow his regime.”

Wu Niantian nearly laughed aloud. The two children he’d encountered today were both so extraordinary.

One was young, yet calm and composed, swift as a leopard, and possessed unbelievable strength. If not for the boy’s illness, Wu Niantian might not have survived this day.

Now, as for this detestable mayor’s son—one of the Alliance’s greatest foes—even he displayed unexpected poise.

“You fools are beyond saving. If not for my father, you’d all be slaves by now. How could you live in such comfort? Instead of gratitude, you repay kindness with betrayal. Have your hearts been devoured by dogs?” Rambo cried, growing agitated. As the mayor’s son, he was well aware of the true conditions in the other city districts.

He knew where people truly lived lives worse than death, without hope—like livestock, kept until their owners chose to slaughter them.

Here, even as second-class citizens, the people enjoyed great freedoms and rewards for their labor. Rambo simply could not understand what more they could want.

Wu Niantian sneered, “Of course you invaders want us to remain ignorant. Dream on if you think you’ll enslave us.”

Wu Meitian, already at the end of her patience, gritted her teeth, spun like a whirlwind, and in a stride reached Rambo’s side. Her slender hand seized his throat, and she said coldly, “If you weren’t still useful, I would kill you right now!”

Rambo’s breath caught, his eyes bulging as if they would burst from their sockets. Terrified, he immediately fell silent.

Le Kai spoke calmly, “If he suffers so much as a scratch, the only ones to bear the consequences will be the hundred million citizens of the district. You’d best think carefully.”

Wu Meitian, reluctantly, released her grip, throwing Rambo to the ground. Her eyes flashed coldly as she fixed Le Kai with a blade-like stare. “And you? Who are you, really? Born of Huaxia, yet you act as a lackey—your family must be no better. I may not be able to kill you, but I can certainly teach you a lesson on behalf of your ancestors!”
