Chapter One: From Zero to Infinity
In a canyon deep within the wilderness, a dozen humanoid mechs used the barren ravine as cover, fiercely exchanging fire with their light cannons as they sought a chance to break through.
These mechs stood about thirty meters tall, perfectly shielded by the canyon’s rocky embrace.
The gray mechs were heavily armed, relentlessly bombarding the enemy.
The white ones served as support units, lightly armed, continuously supplying ammunition and repairing their comrades.
Around them lay the smoldering wreckage of dozens of fallen allies, engulfed in raging flames.
The firelight cast a red glow over the insignias painted on their shoulder armor.
Inside the cockpits, the pilots could almost feel the searing heat, but none of that mattered now.
Soon, it would all be over.
This star system was teetering on the brink of collapse.
Yet someone still clung to the fight, striving to breathe life back into it.
“Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat…”
The relentless sound of gunfire filled the air.
Countless colossal black silhouettes crashed against the ironclad defenses.
Before them, their own mechs fell one by one. Even these steel giants were shattered as if they were paper.
“Shakia, take it quickly! Go now!” came the urgent voice over the comms.
Shakia’s face was hidden behind her pilot’s visor, but even without seeing her expression, the dire situation was clear.
“Captain Jeff, you’re not leaving?!” Shakia’s mech was handed a square box.
“Hurry!” the captain commanded loudly.
“Otherwise, none of us will get out alive!”
Captain Jeff’s face was also concealed by a helmet similar to Shakia’s but more ornate.
“Jeff!!”
“Listen well, Shakia. From now on, you represent me. Take this and rendezvous with the remaining heroes.”
The man called Jeff kept his back to Shakia’s mech, continuing to blast the encroaching black giants.
“That’s impossible! I’m just an ordinary soldier… and you…”
Shakia hesitated.
“Shakia, I only want you to survive.”
Jeff ejected a shell from his cannon and started reloading.
“Besides, sooner or later, you’ll realize you’re not ordinary.”
“...Jeff.”
“Enough! Don’t let all our efforts be in vain! Farewell, Shakia!”
With that, Jeff’s mech kicked Shakia’s cockpit.
The weakest point of the enemy’s encirclement was near the mountainside.
All the squad members led by Jeff signaled Shakia to flee.
“I don’t care anymore!” Shakia gritted her teeth, determined.
Her mech surged forward, crashing through several enemies, trailing a comet-like tail as it charged the encirclement. The rear hatch opened, unleashing a barrage of light that blasted a bloody path through the enemy lines.
The dark shadows surrounding her seemed to notice the rising mech, but their attention was quickly drawn back by the incoming torrent of fire.
“You are our last hope… Shakia… Don’t worry about the enemy, leave them to us!”
To protect their homes from enemies emerging from the distant abyss, the Galactic Federation launched this operation.
They gathered the highest technology from across the starI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
